Hi again! :)
Again, my name is Weiyi Cai (蔡为屹), also go by Dawn because it's close to my Chinese nickname Duan Duan. If you told me two years ago I could be making information graphics for a living I wouldn't have believed you, I still don't believe this is what I do and I think I'm the luckiest person to get to play with data, colors, code, Illustrator, and more for work! I hope one day I can use visualizations to communicate emotions and human stories.
You can find a more serious listicle introduction below but here's a more humane one. I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Hangzhou, China, to the greatest parents in the world. They let me go wherever in the world to pursuit whatever I want to do in life. In college, I, who wanted to work in the music industry, started in school newspaper before I joined the school music label. After finding myself spending hours and hours in front my laptop designing infographics with my mouse pad, I realized this is what I want to do. After college, I magically found myself at The Washington Post, one of the best newspapers in the world, alongside with some of the nicest and most talented people. However, because of immigration issues I had to leave. Now I'm ready for the next adventure.
Currently developing my coding skills, polishing HTML and CSS, eating up D3, Processing, P5.js, Python, so I can bring my visualizations to life.
I look forward to working with you!
